Britain Is Being Let Down and It’s Time to Get Serious

Cllr Zack Ali - Stronger Economy, Stronger Borders

Over the past few days, people across Crawley have asked me the same question: “When are politicians going to start getting serious?”

It’s a fair question.

Because at a time when NATO is under threat, Labour is trying to give away British territory in the Chagos Islands, and our hospitality industry is fighting for survival, what are the other parties doing?

Labour are plotting. Reform are posturing. And while the political circus rolls on, working people are being squeezed harder than ever.

Enough is enough.

Under Labour, we’ve had rising unemployment, the slowest economy in the G7, youth joblessness at record levels and businesses suffocating under tax and red tape. The cost of living is still too high. Public services are stretched. Our borders remain broken.

This government is weak. It’s making bad decisions and you are being forced to live with the consequences.

What Britain needs now is a serious alternative.

That’s exactly what the Conservative Party under Kemi Badenoch is rebuilding.

We’re not interested in stunts, slogans or settling old scores. We are doing the hard work of opposition and setting out a clear, costed plan to fix this country.

We will cut waste with £47 billion in savings from welfare reform, civil service cuts and scrapping failed foreign aid projects.

We will cut taxes by abolishing Stamp Duty to get Britain moving and axing business rates for thousands of high street firms.

We will cut energy bills, by ending Labour’s reckless Net Zero mandates and backing British oil, gas and nuclear, not foreign imports.

We will control our borders, with our BORDERS plan: fast-track removals, withdrawal from the ECHR and a proper cap on immigration.

We will defend British sovereignty, by fighting Labour’s £35 billion Chagos surrender and standing up for the Chagossian community here in Crawley, who have been shamefully ignored by this government.

We will protect our veterans, who are being dragged through the courts while Labour stands by.

We will fix graduate employment, stop youth unemployment rising, and get Britain working again.

And we will do all of this without expanding the state, without crushing enterprise, and without betraying the people who play by the rules.

The Conservative Party is being renewed, not with empty gestures, but with real policies, real leadership, and a real plan for the future. That’s why we’ve forced Labour into U-turns on winter fuel payments, family farm taxes and their attack on pubs and small businesses.

And while Labour flip-flops and Reform flounders, Conservatives are fighting for the people who keep this country going, the workers, the builders, the business owners and the next generation trying to get their start in life.

I’m here to fight for Crawley, for a stronger economy, stronger borders and a stronger country.

The Spring Statement is just weeks away. If Labour had any courage, they’d tear up their failed plans and adopt ours.

Until then, Conservatives will keep pushing, keep fighting, and keep working because Britain deserves better than this mess.
